Fighting Against or Fighting For?
When we fight against something we use all our energy and power against ourselves. Imagine a huge mountain. As you step up close all you see is the hard rock face in front of you. You know that you want to conquer this mountain but all you do is run against it, bounce off and potentially hurt yourself in the process. Now for moment imagine stepping back from this huge obstacle, taking a deep breath and looking around. After a few moments you notice that there is indeed another way to achieve your goal. Just to the left of your view point you notice a stream. As you follow the stream towards the mountain you notice a naturally built stairway of rock running up the face of the mountain. It's still difficult to climb but you will be fighting towards something achievable and natural. The point to this story illustrates that fighting against something isn't always the best approach. It's much better to take stock of the situation and convert the anger and frustration into passion and real desire to make a positive change. Placing these ingredients into a "fighting for" situation will yield a much better and more realistic outcome. There is a lot of talk around regarding "The Secret" and how you can focus on your desires to achieve what you want and not what you don't want. According to their philosophy, putting energy and focus into fighting something you could end up with what you didn't want. Now if we all sat around being passive in the hope that the universe will deliver our path to us without any effort on our part then some of our greatest achievements wouldn't have happened. The key is to "Fight For", fight with passion and desire towards something. When people get in your way like the mountain, stand back and see what the situation is really telling you. Then take a look around, find the real path, thank your obstacle for showing you the error of your ways and move proudly towards your goal.
